Constituents Series: Segregation | 03/22/18 | 7pm | Lakewood Public Library – Madison Branch

Our constituent series – an educational forum – is back for 2018. We’re offering educational sessions to our resistors in Indivisible CLE by taking deep dives into different subjects each month. This has been a much asked for and popular type of event for us and we’re doing more as a continuation of our constituent series.

The first subject we’ll be covering is segregation in our communities and schools as well as the harm it does.

Last week, we announced our first speaker, Sunny Matthews. Our second speaker on segregation is Dr. Rosie Tigue! She’ll be covering the origins of segregation with a focus on federal housing policy in the past that caused it.

Dr. Tigue holds a PhD in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University. Her research focuses on housing policy, race and ethnicity, as well as neighborhood revitalization. Dr Tigue has written academic papers on the links between housing, health and education outcomes and is an expert on federal housing policy.

Educated resistors are effective resistors! Let us give you the tools to have these discussions with others – as we take a deep dive into segregation.
